STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

NeoWest Building Company Pty Ltd “NeoWest” is committed to the effective management of occupational & psychosocial health and safety, which NeoWest acknowledges ranks above all other operational considerations.

 

It is the aim of NeoWest to eliminate the risk of injury and illness to our employees, sub-contractors, clients, visitors and the public by adopting a planned and systematic approach to the management of occupational & psychosocial health and safety; and, by providing resources for its successful implementation and continuous improvement across all sites and project locations. All hazards identified and incidents occurring are reportable and will be investigated. Investigation findings will be used to understand the nature of the hazard or incident occurring and the appropriate preventative and corrective action being undertaken.

 

POLICY OBJECTIVES

 

The overall objective of this policy is to maintain a management system which complies with or exceeds relevant legislation and standards. Specifically, NeoWest will ensure:

 

  • All hazards and risks to occupational & psychosocial health and safety are identified, assessed and where they cannot be eliminated are effectively controlled;

 

  • Measures to control hazards and risks to health and safety are regularly monitored and reviewed;

 

  • Employees and sub-contractors are consulted and encouraged to contribute to the decision making process occupational & psychosocial on health and safety matters affecting their health and safety at work; and

 

  • All managers, supervisors, employees and sub-contractors receive the appropriate support, information, instruction, training and supervision required to develop occupational & psychosocial health and safety knowledge and skills to safely carry out their duties and health and safety responsibilities.

 

STRATEGIES

 

NeoWest will achieve its policy objectives by developing, implementing and maintaining appropriate management plans and procedures which document minimum expectations and performance standards to guide managers, supervisors, employees and sub-contractors to fulfil their health and safety obligations.

 

NeoWest will adopt a preventative approach to health and safety management, supported by strong leadership which promotes a positive attitude and people led approach, which is consistent with developing and maintaining a culture of “health and safety is a responsibility owned and shared by all stakeholders”. All persons working for NeoWest, whether full time or on contract will be inducted without emption or exception. All visitors to NeoWest yards will be inducted.

 

POLICY REVIEW AND DISSEMINATION

 

Inductions will include the provision of a personal copy of this policy and associated policies (risk management, environmental, quality assurance and human resources). All managers, supervisors, employees and sub-contractors will have ready access to this policy, associated policies and procedures.

 

This policy will be reviewed at least every two years in consultation with all relevant managers, supervisors, employees and sub-contractors.
